چکیده
Handles of Early Iron Age bronze cauldrons from southwestern Siberia are described with reference to their ritual meaning. Typological features, such as knobs, arcuate, or square shape, relevant for dating. Two chronological groups established: the Tagar (second half 1st millennium BC) and Xiongnu-Xianbei (late BC early AD). The interpretation handles depends on context. At settlements (Turunovka-4) in certain hoards (First Dzhirim) Late Bronze Age, they can belong foundry scrap. However, occur long-term sites Aidashenskaya Cave, suggesting a different interpretation. Indeed, at Eastern European forest-steppe Xiongnu era, had been intentionally buried, most often near water sources, where summer camps nomadic herders were situated. A similar situation is observed Siberia, Baraba Middle Yenisei valley.

متن کاملIron supplementation of breastfed infants from an early age.
BACKGROUND In breastfed infants, iron deficiency at <6 mo of life, although uncommon, is observed in industrialized countries. Iron supplementation starting at an early age may prevent iron deficiency. OBJECTIVE The study assessed the effect of early iron supplementation of breastfed infants and tested the hypothesis that iron supplementation enhances iron status. Potential adverse effects (t...
متن کاملA rare naviculocuneiform I coalition from Bronze Age Siberia.
Naviculocuneiform coalitions are among the least common types of tarsal coalition, a rare congenital anomaly characterized by incompletely separated tarsal bones. Only a handful of cases have been documented from the archaeological record, none of which have been recovered from north central Asia or date to earlier than about 2000 years B.P. Here, we present a case of nearly complete osseous co...
متن کاملEarly diagenetic processes generate iron and manganese oxide layers in the sediments of Lake Baikal, Siberia.
Distinct layers of iron(III) and manganese(IV) (Fe/Mn) oxides are found buried within the reducing part of the sediments in Lake Baikal and cause considerable complexity and steep vertical gradients with respect to the redox sequence. For the on-site investigation of the responsible biogeochemical processes, we applied filter tube samplers for the extraction of sediment porewater combined with ...

The mandible contains two features of interest: (1) bilaterally missing central incisors, and (2) the tip of a lithic projectile point embedded in the symphyseal region. Despite the absent teeth, the mand...
